In an attempt to use some of his energy prior to the event, I encouraged Brady and Rubix to play outside. It was very cold, windy and still snowing so I threw the ball from the warmth of my kitchen into the backyard for them to fetch. They played and frolicked in the snow for a while, but it was very cold so we moved it inside.I still had plenty of time before the event so snuck in a quick spin class before heading out to the Kirkwood Petco. At first there were only two dogs, two foster parents and the event coordinator that braved the conditions. Eventually another foster with his momma dog and five from her litter joined us.
Even though the event was small, it was great practice for Rubix. He got to meet more dogs and people. I was so proud of him! He barked a little at the cats - to be expected. He played a little with the other male dog. He respected the momma dog. And best of all - he met a few children and sat nicely for them to visit and pet him.
